THE TOWN CRIER OF WESTBURY

I have been Town Crier of Westbury since Summer 1995. I am very pleased to help local charities and community groups free of charge. I also get involved in corporate work, birthday celebrations and even the odd hen night for which there is a fee. I have won three competitions: South Gloucestershire in 1997 and Mells Daffodil Festival in 1999 and 2000. Here is my home cry which can sometimes be heard during competitions:
THE SEVEN WONDERS OF WESTBURY
Oyez, Oyez, Oyez
I am honoured to introduce the kind people of West Wilts to the Seven Wonders of Westbury.
Wheels and spills with Marcos sports cars.
Wiltshire's industrial epicentre.
Weird crop circles appear overnight.
Weavers and spinners are pioneers in glove and cloth making.
Wearing full length swimming costumes are compulsory at the only publicly used, Victorian swimming baths in the World.
Witness the final resting place of the Pliosaur, a one hundred and fifty million year old fossilised dinosaur.
Westbury White Horse the finest hillside monument on the Earth.
God Save the Queen.
